The Certificate Course in Railway Management is intended for mid-level and senior managers showing potential for professional growth and leadership development. It is open to railway and transportation employees and railroad industry suppliers. A variety of critical and topical subjects are covered. The certificate course will be given in four one-week sessions over four months and will include both classroom and field experiences. In addition, these sessions will be linked by assignments and other computer based case studies and work sessions.
The program is taught by a combination of professors and industry subject matter experts. We draw on current Michigan State University faculty from the Broad College of Business, particularly the Department of Supply Chain Management.
Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will have gained comprehensive knowledge of activities associated with railroad operations and management. This will include a thorough working familiarity of industry structure, internal operations, financial considerations, and customer service requirements that will enable fact-based decision-making, resulting in overall efficiency and profitability.
The next session of the Railway Management Certificate Program begins in Fall, 2015.
