Leaders in Supply Chain Management Research and Education

1950s – one of the founding schools for the emerging discipline of supply chain management. Ever since, MSU’s Broad School has led the discipline – nationally and internationally – with unparalleled research and teaching programs.

Our faculty offers the most balanced perspective of logistics, operations, procurement and how they can be synthesized to design and execute a global SCM strategy. Classes are taught by leading edge researchers and practitioners in the field. The program has an information technology focus to provide exposure to technology applications in SCM, such as planning and decision support. In the 3rd summer session we offer specialty tracks: Logistics, Operations Management (OM) and Supply Management (procurement); and a railway management track under development.

The MSSCM program is one of the few degrees offered nationally with this particular format. It is distinctively structured with in-residency and web-based classes offered over a 19 month period. In-residence sessions are 12 days each – scheduled over two summer semesters. In-residence classes include case studies, breakout sessions and simulation assignments featuring state-of-the-art programs. Only a total of 8 weeks on campus over two years is required for the degree. Online classes are held during Fall and Spring semesters – providing flexibility for professionals who don’t want to stop their career to earn a degree. E-learning segments include interactive case participation, simulations and software applications.
