MRIVCC – Midland Research Institute

The Midland Research Institute for Value Chain Creation (MRIVCC) was established by Michigan State University to promote collaborative solutions-focused research for commercial and humanitarian applications. The institute, which was created with the support of grants from The Dow Chemical Company, Dow Corning Corporation, and multiple Midland, Michigan-based, foundations, resides within the Department of Supply Chain Management in the top-ranked Eli Broad College of Business.

With offices in Midland, the institute provides a collaborative off-campus environment for joint research in disciplines related to value chain management, analytics, engineering, packaging, criminal justice, and food safety. Researchers work with undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and corporate collaborators to develop and apply new knowledge, with the aim of improving all types of public and private value chains.

MSU believes the institute’s cross-disciplinary research, which integrates value chain partners, can develop unique solutions to the world’s value chain problems related to resource management, analytics, and sustainability.

In addition to conducting research, the institute offers on-site certificate programs in Midland.
